With winter in full swing many people are turning to added Vitamin C supplementation to prevent the nasty cold that attacks so many year after year. Vitamin C has numerous benefits however now it has one more that may provide you with a reason to take it long after winter has shed its last bitter cold. According to recent studies, vitamin C may help to prevent stomach cancers.
This is exciting news as stomach cancers are considered to be one of the more painful cancers to go through. Unfortunately Vitamin C won’t reverse the cancer however, anyone who takes part in a regular daily supplementation is at a lower risk of developing the cancer to begin with. Remember though, prevention is half of the cure.
Exactly how does Vitamin C remove a person’s stomach cancer risk? A bacterium known as H Pylori has been associated with the development of stomach cancers for a while now. People who have stomach cancer also have a high level of these bacteria. The study showed that people who had an adequate amount of Vitamin C also had a lower level of H Pylori, indicating that Vitamin C can keep this bacterium inactive and at a safe level.
More studies will need to be conducted within a broader audience before Vitamin C becomes a definitive prevention, however this study shows promise. In the meantime, let’s face it vitamin C supplementation isn’t going to hurt. In fact it’s one of the few vitamins that come in chewable form, it’s just like chewing up a piece of candy. Alright maybe it’s not just like candy, it’s still chewable and flavored.
